Co-Designed in Tokyo by Robot.com and Yukai Engineering Co.
After leading the industrial design of Kiwibot's product ecosystem since 2017, I recognized an opportunity to fundamentally redefine how people perceive and connect with autonomous robots.
After leading the industrial design of Kiwibot's product ecosystem since 2017, I recognized an opportunity to fundamentally redefine how people perceive and connect with autonomous robots.
Throughout the years, I have overseen every stage of the design process—from concept development and industrial design to close collaboration with engineering teams responsible for user interfaces, interaction design, sound identity, and the overall product experience. This holistic perspective revealed that the future of robotics extends far beyond functionality; it lies in creating meaningful emotional connections between humans and machines. To further challenge our design thinking, we traveled to Tokyo to co-design the project alongside Yukai Engineering. Their unique philosophy of creating emotionally engaging products provided invaluable feedback and a fresh creative perspective. By combining our expertise in autonomous robotics with their human-centered design approach, we evolved the product into a more expressive, playful, and distinctive robot—one that creates stronger emotional connections while maintaining world-class functionality.

New Brand Language, New Design Approach
This vision led to the development of a completely new design language.
This vision led to the development of a completely new design language.
Rather than simply evolving our existing products, I reimagined Kiwibot's identity through a bold new design language centered on expression, personality, and human-centered interaction. An expressive head display, AI-driven personalities, live conversations, and a flexible personalization system allow each robot to adapt to different brands, industries, and user experiences. By balancing proportions, symmetry, anthropomorphic principles, and a compact form factor, the robot becomes more than a machine—it becomes an approachable companion. The result is a versatile robotic platform that creates stronger emotional connections while setting a new standard for human-centered AI design.

One platform many jobs
At the heart of this transformation is a new generation of robotics that seamlessly integrates advanced AI with thoughtful, human-centered design. My vision was not simply to create another humanoid robot, but to establish a design platform where intelligence, emotion, and functionality coexist to deliver meaningful interactions across real-world environments.

My vision was not simply to create another humanoid robot, but to establish a design platform where intelligence, emotion, and functionality coexist to deliver meaningful interactions across real-world environments.
Leveraging the capabilities of the Astribot platform and the latest advances in machine learning, I worked closely with MOSTA's engineering team and collaborated with leading innovators—including Physical Intelligence, NVIDIA, Astribot, Field AI, Yukai Engineering, and Formic—to shape a versatile AI ecosystem. Rather than designing a robot for a single application, we created a scalable platform capable of automating tasks across manufacturing, logistics, healthcare, food service, and hospitality. From folding, picking, and packing to customer assistance, the system is designed to continuously evolve, unlocking new possibilities for intelligent robotics while redefining how humans and machines work together.

Shaping the Future of Robotics
The result is R-Noid, a new generation of robotic design that establishes a fresh benchmark for the industry. Built on the Astribot platform and enhanced through collaborations with Physical Intelligence, NVIDIA, Field AI, Yukai Engineering, Formic, and our engineering teams at MOSTA, R-Noid combines advanced AI with a human-centered design philosophy. Its modular personality system, expressive head display, and adaptable visual identity allow the robot to seamlessly serve industries including manufacturing, logistics, healthcare, hospitality, food service, and customer-facing environments.
R-Noid represents far more than a new product—it is a scalable AI robotics platform designed for the future of intelligent automation. Whether folding, picking, packing, assisting customers, or performing complex collaborative tasks, the platform is built to continuously learn, evolve, and adapt to new applications. By combining world-class engineering with an emotionally engaging design language, R-Noid transforms robots from functional machines into trusted companions, establishing a new standard for the next generation of human-centered robotics.
